EVER SINCE FIRST HEARING AGGRESION ON ONE OF MY FREQUENT EXCURSIONS INTO THE DEEPEST DARKEST DEPTHS OF THE UNDERGROUND, I FELT COMPELLED TO INTERVIEW THEM AND THANKFULLY THE BAND AGREED MAKING ONE METALHEAD VERY PLEASED IN THE PROCESS. HERE IS WHAT TRANSPIRED. HAILING FROM BRAZIL AND CONTINUING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF A LONG LINE OF CLASSIC BANDS, CHAKAL, SARCOFAGO AND VULCANO TO NAME BUT A FEW. AGGRESION HAVE BEEN HAMMERING AWAY EVER TRUE TO THEIR CAUSE FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS.

How long have the band been together?

Greetings to The Power of the Riff, thank you for space and support to Aggresion, it is a great honor for us. On 23th May of this year (2016) the band completed 13 years, all of us in the band were born exactly on the same day and so we chose this date to celebrate the misfortune, a coincidence cosmological and diabolical.

How did the band meet?

We are part of the same metal movement of our city, and we were always together, organizing concerts and participating in other bands, there was a gathering of people with the same purpose, something natural in a small town.

What's the origin and reason behind the band's name?

Nothing more than a tribute to the old cliches bands or song names, like Extreme Aggression, Horus/Aggressor, Decade of Aggression, without a purpose so fascinating and mysterious, just something simple and straight, like a kick in the face. A name influenced by Satanik Metal Punk banger bands.

What were your influences starting out?

We are Metalhead maniacs, first we are influenced by the essence and commitment that the band has with its words towards Heavy Metal, the sound is good and is a consequence of that, we serve the maximum of  the idea of "practice what you preach." Our direct influences are bands like Mystifier, Vulcano, Sarcofago, Alcoholic Death, Infernal, Mortem, Impurity e etc…

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?

We are form a country town of Brazil, and we are far from all big centers and metropolis, the further away from the big cities, the harder it is, there is still a lot of religious resistence and conservative ideas where we live, little public, bad conditions, few people involved in the really extreme movement, but it is this resistance that keeps us going, we know we should do something for those who live here, we have to play here, organize shows here, so that every time the city grows more in this regard. Our vocalist and bassist live far from the rest of the band, he is an archaeologist and professor at a major university, however we continue fighting. I think the right answer is, our biggest challenge is to continue day after day, despite all difficulties.

Forja Infernal which was released back in 2012 and was the follow up to your 2008 demo Murmúrios Blasfêmicos is the bands debut Ep. The Ep is one of the few releases which gained my attention from the horde of underground releases due to sheer raw power of the music while maintaing a technical edge. Did it take long to rehearse the material before recording it?

The distance between us and our singer is the main reason why we don’t  have much material, despite spending a lot of time on the road. Forja Infernal was an evolution from the first demo, we tried to put aside the complicated riffs, and make the sound more harsher, even why the demo still had another guitarist and ep Forja Infernal has only one, and we did not want to let the sound to be flawed live, putting many work on a single guitar (despite also knowing that destruction, Motorhead or Coroner just make do with one live guitar). We try to open the sound, let more noisier, saturated and with the fastest drums possible, lyrical and ideological content have remained the same and I hope it continues forever, talk about Satan, Witchcraft, Black Magik, Smoke and Death.

As a band how do you write the music is it more of a jam/collective process or do you write as indivduals?

We all create together, as a brainstorm, often even at the time of recording, we were changing the music, live they change from one show to the other, depending mainly on the amount of smoke and alcohol, our Death Thrash is very influenced by experiences of Jimi Hendrix, Pablo Escobar, Dr. Albert Hoffman and Ilex Paraguayensis .

Did it take long to rehearse the material before recording it?
Yes, because of the distance, I believe that we are more than 2000 kilometers apart from each other, and as we had little money and time available in the studio, we have come to dominate what we do. For Forja Infernal, we wasted no time in composing solos, improvising all the time, we also had the participation of a great friend of ours, Rex Phallus from Totemtabu on vocals and he had never rehearsed with us before, he had to record with a first take, but the can become expensive sometimes.

What are your influences, what drives you to create the style of of metal that you do?
.
We are influenced by many worlds, stories, movies, and music. As our lyricist and singer is an archaeologist and we live in the region that has the biggest indigenous population of Brazil, we try to somehow talk about the dark side of indigenous religions and the stories of these people, we know how much they are demonized by the church and despised by our government, so in a way we want to give voice to this culture, especially to the path of left hand of these people. Musically we are nothing more than a tribute to bands we like, we try to keep the essence of the satanik riffs of Mercyful Fate, Vulcano, Mystifier in our sound, ultrasonic drums of Sarcofago and Sextrash, a mixture of all we venerate.

The Ep is one of the best debuts I have heard in a while from start to finish it doesn't let up in it's metal assault, how happy are you with the final result now thats it's finished and has been out for a while, would you change anyhting?

Thank you very much, I love this EP also was recorded in a good studio here in our city, we support the launch and distribution of CDs, 12 labels joined to disclose that material, to us in the band, it was a great achievement.

If you were to change something, it would be in relation to tones and mixing, but this is the least, we all really like this album, we got a lot of things with it.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Unfortunately here in Brazil, having a band is a lot of hard work and often sad, people earn little money and work hard for it, there does not exist any incentive of any type of media, and you only get support to pay for it. To survive here, you have to kill yourself to work, and you can not have a band rehearsing once a month, you should know you have to sacrifice many things to play, especially playing extreme metal, the third world is really scary.

What do you think about online music sharing?
Support all the ways of dissemination, I think the online way is a great way to meet new bands, I do not see any problem with the distribution of online music or downloads, but that's just about my band, I do not see any problem with someone who downloads the album or anything so even because I know that there is no money in it and do not see it as a business work to get money, people do because they want to support and share, if other bands feel offended by someone sharing their mp3 and not getting your physical material, it's their problem. I think rather important to get the materials of the bands, it is an addiction, a parallel universe, however the online way shortens paths.

What is the local scene like in your area?

We often talk que scene is for actors, people acting on stage and after this, take off their makeup and masks and become other people, we reject this and one of the things that has most here, actors inside the rock and heavy metal, impostors go up on stage just to show their silky hair and their rehearsed gestures, rehearsed in Mom's bathroom mirror, without any compromising with real Metal movement, not help with organizing events, do not write zines and etc, just want to play some covers and get some easy money, fuck you all. We thank you very much for having  a few true warriors fighting for the Satanik metal movement, these people know who I mean, which include Alcoholic Death, Incinerator, Total Desastre, Katastrofe, Mario Caverna, João Pedro , Totemtabu, Escafandro, Profane Souls and a few other que I always forget ... These signed the name of the devil's book.

What about the Brazillion Metal scene as a whole, is it in a healthy state?

One of the strongest of world, Although the whole situation I have been quoting from the beginning, as a lack of support and great distances (Brazil is the size of a continent) We have some of the most fucking greatest bands in the world, Vulcano, Mystifier, Impurity ... Despite making a sound raw, sinister and geared totally for those who like the devilish side of life, these guys are traveling and spreading the Brazilian Metal in the world, here the bands do many exchanges, is what always keeps them going on shows in many places are doing very well there are many places for events, however, our new president is a Christian jerk reactionary who hates the Potheads, Hippies, Metalheads, Punks and has everything to make the situation worst as possible

.
Who are your all time favourite Brazillian Metal bands?

Sarcofago is the greatest band of all time, they created the root of all evil, following them diabolic Mystifier, Vulcano, Sextrash, Infernal, Chakal and old Sepultura.

A band on the scene at the moment who every Metalhead should know about is?

Alcoholic Death, the torment of swamps and Incinerador, the torment of the Amazonian forests.

What is your greatest achievement so far as a band?

Aggresion is the best thing I have in my life so far, so I built and ran through it, it is amazing to me, already we walked many haunted roads where we live, we got close to the Andes, play with our heroes, recorded some cool stuff, is equal to a previous answer, our greatest achievement is resistance
.
What are your aspirations for the future?

We were talking about it these days ago, we needto  make money to be able to go to Europe to play the maximum we can, with the new album in hand. Demonstrate the fury of Brazilian Infernal Metal Attack.

What's happening in the band at the moment, what are you currently working on?

We have new songs ready, ready to record, which  are ten times more hellish than the last, we want to release tchem on vinyl, a split with a destructive band, we will launch independently because we have not received any contact to possible support, we cannot die without recording these songs.

What does metal mean to you?

Metal is the power, is black magic, there's nothing more intense than it, it is war, war against this retrograde world full of false gods, fuck Muhammad and Alah, fuck Jehovah, Buddha or Jesus, Metal is the fuel of hell and the guillotine of the gods.

Any last words?

Again, thank you for the space, we are honored to be a part of this scheme, here I leave a greeting and a call to all who deny God and all followers of the left hand path ... Satanists, witches, werewolves, addicts, demons, ghosts, specters, alcoholics, murderers and all true headbangers! A morte está aqui!!

After a short intro "Torment" which brings proceedings to a start, we have the first of two actual songs and when that opening riff to "Beast from the Abyss" hits it send shivers down my spine and I stand in awe of the pure majestic quality as the riff effortlessly  spellbinds you. Before the first riff sinks in the pace picks up and the song shifts showing a great sense of dynamics.  The fact they don't over  play he riff is genius because it leaves you wanting more. I am surprised because I heard the term death metal being thrown around a lot when it came to this ep and while their are death metal influences this leans more to black and epic metal. Imagine if someone told you Dissection was a death metal band and you get what I mean. Epic frost laden riffs. The second track "In the white wolves kingdom" is even more epic in it's granduer and brings to mind Immortal era "At the heart of winter" and Bathory era "Hammerheart" and that's it as the ep ends and soon as it starts. All this without any label support, a professionally produced release all warped up in a well put together digipack with artwork which captures the essence of the band. If I'm honest it's the artwork which drew me to this release in the first place and it proved to live up to my expectations.

If their early albums were the sound of chaos unleashed from the depths of hell then this album is the sound of chaos harnessed. the music is extreme in approach, sound and lyrical content but at the helm there is clear direction. The album revolves around themes of madness which can be heard in the demented and psychotic laughing towards the end of opening track ''Evil's Mucus'' and continues throughout. Death Metal does not begin to describe this album which runs the gauntlet of extreme metal but their is a heavy Black influence going on even if it doesn't necessarily manifest itself in the riffs themselves the mood of the album is very dark. Take the eerie main riff in ''Funeral March'' which transcends into a great melodic solo which gradually flows into a blastbeat that is nothing short of perfection. The overall effect is like moths being drawn to a flame and mesmerized before death strikes. The musical arrangements this time around show a great development in the band as a unit. Overall the album is the most ominous sounding release from the band so far and they create some truly dark and twisted atmospheres.  Another great extreme metal band spewed forth from hell's festering pit, technical and harsh with an organic sound. Soul devouring Metal.

Progressive death metal with a strong black influence.

Thrash bands nowadays are a dime a dozen so when it comes to choosing your dose of thrash the average metalhead tends to spend sometime before making a decision when it comes to buying a new album after all it's that feeling of the hair standing up on the back of your neck as a good thrash riff comes hurtling out of your speakers at razor sharp speed giving you that kick which makes you know your alive. Terrordome have down it again with yet another solid album of breakneck thrash riffs, razor-sharp in their execution as they rip shreds from your ears and pulverize you with pure thrash and that's it in a nutshell what you see is what you get and on the upside it's no half arsed thrash but a welcome addition to a fine legacy.

It's hard to believe Infernal War are almost 20 years active and are still going as strong as ever with not a ounce of  their rapid bile filled and unmerciful relentless war having waned. Axiom is the bands latest offering and is set to hit in April so brace yourself  for the inevitable carnage. Considered to be one of the best bands on the scene by those in the know, Infernal War have always been at the forefront of the Polish Black Metal scene since the day they started hammering away at their chosen trade. Unrelenting and verocious in their conviction to their craft. Intense aggression, blastbeats like bullet hail fall as diabolical riffs played with infernal hatred spew forth, this is Axiom in a nutshell. The album is chaotic like being in the maelstrom of a war. For those who have never heard the band a reference point could be somewhere between the barrage of prime Marduk and the punkish tinged black assault of Impaled Nazarene but with that said this is Infernal War and they should be judged in their own right. The focus seems to be on the individual songs and each one makes it's mark as the fallout lays waste to my eardrums. The album has a triumphant sound and is played with unforgiving intent. There is not much to be said only that the album will be sure to satisfy existing fans and pick up up a few more devotess along the way.

Somewhere between the early nwobhm of Iron Maiden and 80's speed metal of bands like Exciter lie Boltcrown. I have to say although the ep isn't perfect for me  it's a great short, sharp, slice of razor edge metal. I love their honesty and straight up no bullshit  metal approach in their riffs and playing style. You get a young band belting out their first compositions warts and all with full on metal passion pumping through their veins. Laying down a solid foundation from which to build the band upon, I'm looking forward to hearing a full-length debut from these guys and hopefully soon.

It's hard to believe this is the same band who I first heard of on their 2011 demo such is the sheer growth evident in the quality of the music which has become more focused and serious. The guitars haav become tighter and the pace of the thrashing has been upped a notch or two. The vocalist has become more sure of himself and his abilities. On the demo they were although melodic in an almost nwobhm way were one of the weaknesses but here the vocalist has to be commended for his development. The whole band put in a great performance and one hell of a short but satisfying thrash metal frenzy latter and your left craving more. Back when I heard the demo I was impressed by the joy that could be felt by the band as they played thrash and the charm of a band not fully reaching there potential and as much as I loved that demo I know this is a ep that will get them the recognition they deserve and hopefully a record deal. Given that the band released this independently as a digital release first and later on cd it is commendable given the professional production and packaging. Expect a classic debut album soon.

INTERVIEW WITH THE BRUTAL DEATH METAL KILLING MACHINE THAT IS DISLOYAL!

How long have the band been together?

The band was formed in 1997. Exactly 18 years ago. This year we have entered the age of majority, heheh. DISLOYAL has never officially suspended its activity, although we had a break from releasing albums and in the concert activity also.

How did the band meet?

In 1995-1997 I was playing in a progressive rock band called ALL FICTION. Unfortunately, the band split-up after the death of our bassist Grzegorz. I wanted to continue playing but the rest of the band had no desire to do it anymore. Then I decided to myself that I will not just sit on my ass and I have to continue playing music. At the end of 1996 I offered two of my friends to form a band. They were Sławek „Szycha” Szuszczewicz i Tomek „Zakamar” Kaczmarczyk. Jurek Dacko joined us a little bit later as a bassist and the first DISLOYAL line-up was completed.

What's the origin of the name?

The name Disloyal and our first logo were invented by Sławek „Szycha” Szuszczewicz. From what I remember our lifestyle at that moment has inspired him to come up with that name, heheh. You know, endless parties, absolutely no responsibility, and so on and so forth. So looking back in time we were really DISLOYAL to some things and some people!!!

What were your influences starting out?

Speaking about musical influences which guided us while creating Disloyal I would certainly name such bands as: Morbid Angel, Death, Vader, Slayer, Sepultura, Carcass, etc. As you can see there are no surprises, just the classic of the genre! This should have led to something good, heheh... like Disloyal.
And in general we were so obsessed with the music that we loved, we just wanted to play, to create, to record, to live and breathe the fucking metal!!!!!!

What inspires the music and lyrics?

Well, the main things that inspire us to compose music and write lyrics (of course here I mean lyrics which were written by band members) are our daily lives, daily problems, ups and downs, our feelings, which in each of us evoke different emotions, watching what is happening in this crazy fucked-up world. Considering all these things we draw the appropriate conclusions and emotions which we can always transfer into the music or lyrics for Disloyal.

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?

I personally think that in the band’s history there were two biggest challenges that we have faced. The first one was the recording of our demo called „DESIRE” in 1997. These were really tough and crazy times in terms of collecting funds for the recording session and the creation of the music itself. We didn’t really know where to start, what to do, how to prepare for the session, where to get money for it, etc... We had to deal with all these things ourselves and fortunately we succeeded.
The second biggest challenge was to record and finalize, or to obtain the final effect in the form of released CD of our last album called "Godless" (premiere date is on June 9th 2015). It was totally serious and massive venture starting from the creation of the material, its technical learning, mastering, preparation for each of us before entering the studio, absolute devotion and engagement during the recording process, putting all our hearts and souls into it, and till finally taking care of the entire promotional campaign aimed at finding a label, along with the work on all the details with graphic design, artwork, etc., that eventually led to signing a deal with Japanese label GHASTLY MUSIC (a division of AMPUTATED VEIN RECORDS). It's really impossible to find the proper words to describe how much efforts we’ve put into this album. IT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE SO FAR IN THE HISTORY OF DISLOYAL !!!!!

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

First of all, hard work, patience, perseverance, mutual respect between band members, because without that everything will be worthless and full of shit. Well, and the most important thing is to be normal cool simple people, not self inflated buffoons with unrestrained arrogance and egotism. Anyway, life will put everything in its place. That’s it. Everything else must be deserved, heheh. Sad but true.

What do you think about online music sharing?

I think that we have no influence on it, and it’s impossible to change these procedures, this progress. Of course I fully support the opinion that the Internet killed the music and the music business, and has also totally changed the approach and attitude of metal fans to their favorite bands and to what they do. You know the Net has deprived fans of some respect, because now people are not waiting for the release of a new album of a favorite band as it was before, when the music was only available on CD or vinyl (for example in Poland we had no simple access to metal music in general). A fan was waiting for new recordings with flushed face, and was totally excited when listening to music and holding in his hands a long-awaited and hardly accessible new album of SLAYER for example. Now you just enter the web-portal or torrents looking for a new album of any band, and you just click the download button and then add or don’t add this album to the play list on your mp3 player. The magic that you could feel in the times before this Internet invasion has disappeared. Of course it’s really awesome when after listetning to mp3 a person likes the album so much that he/she decides to buy the original CD or vinyl, but such people are very few. Obviously we, as a band also share and sell our music via Internet, because we just have to move with the times and develop. I certainly secretly hope that people will some day come back to listening to music on CDs or vinyls as they used to.

What is the local scene like in your area?

At the present moment speaking about the local rock/metal scene in my hometown I must say that it just doesn’t exist at all. There were really a lot of bands before, who performed this kind of music but now the local scene is completely dead. But if we speak about the specific region, I mean Warmia-Masuria Province, then it is still going strong when it comes to rock and metal. The scene is still developing and the old and well-known bands are still performing or preparing to return after the break, as it is in the case of for example ATROCIOUS FILTH (a band where Doc from VADER was drumming), who are finishing the recording of a new album. In general, this area is quite well deserved as a part of Polish and international metal scene, because the bands like VADER, DIES IRAE, CHRIST AGONY, MOON, PROPHECY or above-mentioned ATROCIOUS FILTH came out of here. Of course I mentioned only the most famous ones.

What about the Polish Metal scene as a whole, is it in a healthy state?

Regarding the current condition of Polish metal scene it is doing very well and it looks like it will be even better. There are more and more young, very promising and professional bands that are ready to conquer the "world". Old bands with a very well-established position who are already well-known are recording stronger and stronger albums. In overall, Poland is increasingly highly appreciated on the global metal map. The only thing that surprises me a little bit is that sudden momentary boom, admiration and fashion for all kinds of post black metal "productions" on the Polish scene. Definitely not all of them are as good as it is described and some have nothing worth attention except the dark and gloomy cover artwork. But I’m sure that this is only temporary phenomenon and death metal will continue to destroy and devastate everything on its way!!!!!

Who are your all time favourite Polish Metal bands?

DECAPITATED, VADER, BEHEMOTH, INFERNAL WAR, IPERYT, THE DEAD GOATS, SCEPTIC, DIES IRAE, CHRIST AGONY – these are just the first names that immediately came to my mind. I can assure you that there are many more of them!!!

A band on the scene at the moment who every Metalhead should know about is?

I can’t name only one, heheh! MORBID ANGEL, GOJIRA, NILE, IMMOLATION, HATE ETERNAL, SLAYER. This should be the minimum necessary for every Metalhead!!!!!

What is your greatest achievement so far as a band?

Without hesitation and with full responsibility, I can say that it’s our latest album "GODLESS" as well as the current line-up of the band. I just see it as our greatest achievement so far, this is exactly the kind of attitude that I have.

What are your aspirations for the future?

First of all, our aim is to promote „Godless” the best way we can. And of course to start touring in support of this album. We strive for the best progress, development, evolution of the band in terms of music and performance on stage. This is how we see the future.

What's happening in the band at the moment, what are you currently working on?

As I said earlier, currently, we are fully engaged in all the matters related to the new album and all the promotional stuff. We are also getting ready for the concerts, rehearsing a lot, and impatiently waiting for the official release of „Godless”!!!

What does metal mean to you?

The style and the culture of life that I have chosen quite a few years ago, heheh. I can not imagine my existence without it!!! It's too deep inside me, METAL is a part of me, and I am a part of METAL. I love it and I feel great about it.

Any last words?

Absolutely fucking huge thanks for the opportunity of sharing our news and thoughts in this interview and for helping us to promote DISLOYAL and the new release. Stay tuned and get ready for the premiere of our latest CD "Godless," which will be out on June 9th 2015 through GHASTLY MUSIC / AMPUTATED VEIN RECORDS and officialy distributed by CODE7/PLASTIC HEAD and MVD Entertainment Group. The pre-order will be available from 9th of May. All those who are interested please check the following pages for the news:

There you will find all the information about the band, the label and the pre-order of "Godless" and will also be able to get acquainted with our works and history. Thanks again for your support and hail to all metal maniax!!!!! KEEP THE METAL FAITH!!!!!
